Winchester Celebration of Local Food

One hundred and fifty Winchester men, women and children and got even cozier with local farmers and the bounty they provide!
EBT machines and Granite State Market Match at the Winchester Farmers Market and Picadilly Farm, as well as 12 – week Picadilly Farm CSA "12 – week floating shares" get local food on the plates and in the tummies of all community members. These new programs were featured at the Celebration of Local Food through announcements, flyers and posters highlighted at the event.
A beautiful banquet lovingly prepared by Pamela's Pantry was enjoyed to the sweet sound of the WINchester School choir singing songs praising the earth and it's edible gifts. An impromptu jam session led by David Duhon and children's art on display made the event even more joyous!
Thank you to all the community members who made such an incredible event possible including: Robert and Gloria Leustek of Winchester Farmer's Market on Main, Jenny Hausman Wooster of Picadilly Farm, Patti Powers of Cheshire Garden, and the MFCC Education Working Group members - Cheshire County Conservation District, UNH Cooperative Extension - Nutrition Connections, Keene State College Dietetic Internship.
Manning Hill Farm, Wingate Farm, Kernel Bakery, and Cat Den Mtn. Farm Bakery provided meat, greens, squash, carrot sticks, vegan pasties, and cookies to complete a delicious meal.

The Celebration served as a springboard to promote Cheshire Co. Conservation District collaboration with Picadilly Farm and the Winchester Farmers Market to provide EBT machines at the farm stand and at the farmers market. Additionally, SNAP recipients can "double up" their fruit and vegetable purchasing by using "Granite State Market Match" a matching fund.
